A useful TestDaF plan begins by finding out where you stand. A strong essay does not cancel out a listening difficulty, and recognising an answer is different from producing one. Start with a small sample of each skill before choosing how to divide your study time.
Check the format you are preparing for
TestDaF covers reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Digital and paper-based versions have different task structures, so use official materials for the version you intend to take. Check the current instructions rather than borrowing timings from another format. Links to both official formats are below.
Make a weekly skills map
Divide a notebook into four sections. In reading, note where you misunderstood an argument. In listening, separate missed words from a missed main idea. In writing, keep one example of unclear organisation. In speaking, record where you lost your point. These observations give your teacher something specific to work with and help you avoid spending every session on your favourite skill.
Practise producing an answer, then review it
For an original practice task, read a short university-related text, summarise its main point aloud, and write your own response. Keep the source’s view separate from your opinion. On review, ask whether your answer addresses the question, has a clear structure, and uses examples that actually support the point. This exercise is general preparation, not a replica of an official exam task.
Use feedback to change the next attempt
A mock test is useful when it leads to a different practice choice. Repeat a weak task after feedback and compare the result. Ask your teacher to explain one change you can apply immediately. Mr. Alex offers TestDaF preparation in Amman; discuss your current skills and goals in the free consultation. No study schedule can promise a particular test result.
Try it yourself
This week, save one reading error, one difficult listening passage, a short writing sample, and a one-minute speaking recording. Use the collection to decide which two skills need the most attention next week.
